The entire suit is worked in Stockinette St., with a color pattern in blouse and scarf.

BLOUSE: Back—With Red cast on 115 sts. Work 6 rows. For design, tie on small balls of Navy and White. Do not carry these colors from 1 design to another. Carry Red across back of work loosely.

Pattern Row 1—-(With right side of work toward you) with Red K. 6, * with Navy K. 2, with Red K. 1, with White K. 4, with Red K. 17, repeat from * across row ending Red K. 6 instead of K. 17.

Pattern Row 2—With Red P. 6, * White P. 4, Red P. 1, Navy P. 2, (being careful to twist strands so that work will be firm), Red P. 17, repeat from * across row ending Red P. 6, in­stead of P. 17.

Pattern Row 3—Red K. 6, * Navy K. 2, Red K. 3, White K. 2, Red K. 17, repeat from * across row ending Red K. 6 instead of K. 17.

Pattern Row 4—Red P. 6, * White P. 2, Red P. 3, Navy P. 2, Red P. 17, repeat from * across row ending Red P. 6, instead of P. 17.

Pattern Row 5—Red K. 6, * Navy K. 4, Red K. 1, White K. Z, Ked K. 17, repeat from * across row ending Red K. 6 instead of K. 17.

Pattern Row 6—Red P. 6, * White P. 2, Red P. 1, Navy P. 4, Red P. 17, repeat from * across row ending Red P. 6 instead of P. 17.

   Work 1½ inches even in Red between patterns, decreasing 1 st. each side the row after the first pattern. Decrease 1 st. each side every 1½ inches 3 more times.

To work second pattern (111 sts. on needle), work first and last 16 sts. with Red and repeat from * to * of the pattern rows. This alternates the patterns. For the third pattern work the first and last 3 sts. in Red and repeat from * to * of pattern rows. Continue in this manner, alternat­ing the patterns and working 1½ inches in Red between each pattern.

When work measures 7 inches from start, in­crease 1 st. each side, then increase 1 st. each side every ½ inch 10 more times. When work measures 14 inches from start, bind off 7 sts. at the beginning of each of the next 2 rows, then decrease 1 st. each side every other row 10 times. When work measures 7 inches straight up from the bound off sts. at underarm, bind off 6 sts. at the beginning of each of the next 10 rows. Bind off remaining 35 sts. for back of neck.

Front—With Red cast on 121 sts. Work same as back until work measures 13½ inches, but be­gin and end rows of first pattern with 9 Red sts; begin and end rows of second pattern with 19 Red sts.

When work measures 13½ inches from start (135 sts. on needle), work over 67 sts. and place these on a st. holder, bind off 1 st., work across last 67 sts. Working on these last 67 sts., work 4 rows even, next row bind off 7 sts. for under­arm, work across and decrease 1 st. at neck edge. Then, working decreases at armhole edge and de­creases at neck edge at the same time, work as follows: at armhole edge decrease 1 st. every other row 13 times; at neck edge decrease 1 st. every 5th row 16 more times.

When work measures 7 inches straight up from the bound off sts. at underarm, bind off 6 sts. from armhole edge every other row 5 times. All sts. have been worked off. Pick up sts. from st. holder and work in same manner.

Sleeves—With Red cast on 77 sts. and working in same pattern as blouse, increase 1 st. each side every ½ inch 6 times. Begin and end rows of first pattern with 12 Red sts. When work meas­ures 4 inches from start, bind off 7 sts. at the be­ginning of each of the next 2 rows. Decrease 1 st. each side every other row 25 times, then every row 5 times. Bind off the remaining 15 sts.

Sew shoulder seams, sew sleeves in place, sew underarm and sleeve seams. Work 1 row S. C. around all edges of blouse.

Scarf—With Navy cast on 45 sts. and work pat­terns with Red and White in same manner as blouse. Work even for 8 inches beginning and ending rows of first pattern with 19 Navy sts. and of second pattern with 7 Navy sts.

When work measures 8 inches from start, de­crease 1 st. each side every other row 9 times. Work even for 12 inches, increase 1 st. each side every other row 9 times, work even for 8 inches, bind off. Work 1 row S. C. around scarf.

SKIRT—With Navy and circular needle, cast on 360 sts. Join, being careful not to twist sts. Work 7 inches even, then * K. 2 tog., K. 34, re­peat from * around row. (10 sts. decreased in row). In each decreasing row there will be one less st. between the decreases (K. 2 tog.) than in previous decreasing row.

Decrease in this manner every 3 inches 3 more times, decrease every 2 inches 3 times, decrease every inch 8 times. Work 1 inch even. (Skirt measures 31 inches). Bind off. Work beading at top for elastic. Work 2 rows S. C. around bottom.
