Entire jacket is made on No. 2 Steel Needles in Homespun Nub Yarn and worked in pattern.

PATTERN—Multiple of 4 sts.

Row 1—* K. 2 sts., P. 2 sts., repeat from * across row.

Rows 2, 3, 4—Same as Row 1.

Row 5—* P. 2 sts., K. 2 sts., repeat from * across row.

Rows 6, 7, 8—Same as Row 5.

Repeat these 8 rows for pattern.

JACKET: Back—Cast on 104 sts. and work even in pattern for 2 inches, then decrease 1 st. each side. Decrease 1 st. each side every inch 3 more times, work 2 inches even (work measures 7 inches from start). Increase 1 st. each side, then increase 1 st. each side every ½ inch 10 times, work 2 inches even (work measures 14 inches from start). Bind off 7 sts. at the beginning of each of the next 2 rows, then decrease 1 st. each side every other row 8 times. When work meas­ures 7 inches straight up from the bound off sts. at underarm, bind off 7 sts. at the beginning of each of the next 8 rows. Bind off remaining sts. for back of neck.

Right Front—Cast on 64 sts. Work even for 2 inches, then decrease 1 st. at side edge. Decrease 1 st. at side edge every inch 3 times. At the same time, when work measures 2½ inches from start, work a buttonhole as follows: Work over 4 sts. from front edge, bind off 7 sts., work to end of row. On next row cast on 7 sts. over the bound off sts. Work a buttonhole in same manner every 4 inches 4 more times (5 buttonholes).

When decreases at side edge have been completed, work even for 2 inches, then increase 1 st. at side edge. Increase 1 st. at side edge every ½ inch 10 times, work 2 inches even.

Bind off 7 sts. at side edge once for underarm, then decrease 1 st. at underarm side every other row 12 times.

When work measures 5½ inches straight up from the bound off sts. at underarm, bind off 14 sts. at front edge, then decrease 1 st. at same edge every other row 10 times.
At the same time, when work measures 7 inches straight up from the bound off sts. at underarm, bind off 7 sts. from armhole edge every other row 4 times. All sts. have been worked off.

Left Front—Work to correspond to Right Front omitting buttonholes.

Sleeves—Cast on 56 sts. Work even for 3 inches, then increase 1 st. each side. Increase 1 st. each side every inch 13 times.

When work measures 18 inches from start, bind off 7 sts. at the beginning of each of the next 2 rows, then decrease 1 st. each side every other row 28 times. Bind off remaining 14 sts.

Tabs—Cast on 8 sts. Work even for 4 inches. For buttonhole work over 4 sts. Work back and forth on these 4 sts. for ¾ inch. Work in same manner on remaining 4 sts., join and when work measures 5 inches, decrease 1 st. each side every other row 4 times, bind off.

Sew in place on sleeves as illustrated.

Sew shoulder seams, sew sleeves in place, sew underarm and sleeve seams.

Pockets—Cast on 36 sts. and work even for 5 inches, bind off. Sew in place as illustrated.

Pocket Tabs—Cast on 36 sts. Work even for 1½ inches. Decrease 1 st. each side every row 17 times, bind off.  Sew in place ½ inch above pockets.

Collar—Cast on 4 sts. Increase 1 st. each side every row 20 times, then every other row 34 times. At the same time, when work measures 7 inches front start, work over 49 sts., place on a st. holder, bind off 14 sts., work across row. Decrease 1 st. at center edge every row 18 times, then every other row 3 times. When work measures 4 inches straight up from the 14 bound off sts., bind off 7 sts. from center edge every other row 4 times. All sts. have been worked off.

Pick up sts. from st. holder and work to cor­respond. Sew collar in place as illustrated.

SKIRT—Make four separate gores.

Entire skirt is worked on No. 1 Steel Needles in Featherdown, in the following pattern.

PATTERN—Multiple of 10 sts.

Row 1—* K. 5, P. 5, repeat from * across row.

Row 2—Repeat Row 1.

Row 3—* P. 1, K. 4, P. 4, K. 1, repeat from * across row.

Row 4—Repeat Row 3.

Row 5—* P. 2, K. 3, P. 3, K. 2, repeat from * across row.

Row 6 and all even rows, repeat the row imme­diately preceding.

Row 7—* P. 3, K. 2, P. 2, K. 3, repeat from * across row.

Row 9—* P. 4, K. 1, P. 1, K. 4, repeat from * across row.

Row 11—* P. 5, K. 5, repeat from * across row.

Row 13—* K. 1, P. 4, K. 4, P. 1, repeat from * across row.

Row 15—* K. 2, P. 3, K. 3, P. 2, repeat from * across row.

Row 17—* K. 3, P. 2, K. 2, P. 3, repeat from * across row.

Row 19—* K. 4, P. 1, K. 1, P. 4, repeat from * across row.

Row 20—repeat Row 19.

Repeat these 20 rows for entire skirt.

Cast on 132 sts. Decrease 1 st. each side every 2 inches 10 times, then every inch 5 times, then every ½ inch 10 times, work 1 inch even. (Work measures 31 inches.) Bind off.

Sew seams. Work 2 rows S. C. around bottom of skirt. Work beading at top for elastic.

Scarf—Scarf is worked in same pattern as skirt. With No. 1 Steel Needles and Pottery Rust cast on 4 sts. Increase 1 st. each side every other row 31 times (66 sts.). Decrease 1 st. each side every ½ inch 20 times (26 sts.). Work 2 inches even, then increase 1 st. each side every ½ inch 20 times (66 sts.). Decrease 1 st. each side every other row 31 times. Bind off 4 remaining sts. Work 1 row S. C. around all edges.
