SWEATER: Back—With Canary and No. 3½ Needles cast on 86 sts. and work in ribbing (K. 1, P. 1) for 3½ inches. Increase 1 st. in last st. Change to No. 4 Needles and start pattern as fol­lows:

Row 1—* P. 3, K. 3, repeat from * across row ending P. 3.

Row 2—* K. 3, P. 3, repeat from * across row ending K. 3.

Repeat Rows 1 and 2, 3 times more. Row 9—Same as Row 1.

Row 10—K. 4, P. 1, * K. 5, P. 1, repeat from * across row ending K. 4.

Row 11—P. 4, K. 1, * P. 5, K. 1, repeat from * across row ending P. 4.

Row 12—Same as Row 10.

Repeat these 12 rows for entire sweater. When work measures 11½ inches from start, bind off 4 sts. each side. Then decrease 1 st. each side every other row 2 times. When work measures 8 inches straight up from the bound off sts. at underarm, bind off 7 sts. at the beginning of each of the next 6 rows. Bind off remaining 33 sts. for back of neck.

Front—With No. 3½ Needles cast on 98 sts. and work in ribbing same as back. Increase 1 st. in last st. and change to No. 4 needles. Work front in pattern same as back for 12 inches. Shape armhole same as back. When work measures 7 inches straight up from the bound off sts. at underarm, work over 33 sts. and place on a st. holder. Bind off 21 sts. and work across row. Bind off 4 sts. at neck edge every other row 3 times. When work measures 8 inches straight up from the bound off sts. at underarm, bind off 7 sts. at armhole edge every other row 3 times for slanting shoulder. Pick up sts. from st. holder and work to cor­respond.

Sleeves—With No. 3½ Needles cast on 40 sts. and work in ribbing same as sweater for 3 inches. Change to No. 4 Needles and increase to 45 sts., increasing in every 8th sts. across row. Then work in pattern. Increase 1 st. each side every inch 12 times. When sleeve measures 18 inches, bind off 4 sts. at the beginning of each of the next 2 rows, then decrease 1 st. each side every other row 8 times. Then bind off 2 sts. each side every other row 7 times. Bind off remaining 17 sts.

Sew shoulder seams, sew sleeves in place, sew underarm and sleeve seams.

Collar—With No. 3½ Circular Needle pick up 84 sts. around neck and join. Work in ribbing same as on bottom of sweater for 4½ inches. Bind off.

SKI PANTS: Right Leg—With Navy and No. 3½ Needles cast on 72 sts. and work in ribbing (K. 1, P. 1) for 3 inches. Change to No. 4 Needles and Stockinette St. and work 1 inch even. Increase 1 st. each side. Then increase 1 st. each side every ½ inch 47 times (168 sts. on needle). Decrease 1 st. each side every other row 40 times (work measures 10 inches straight up from the beginning of decreases). Next row work over 44 sts. and place on a st. holder. Working on re­maining 44 sts., bind off 4 sts. at inside edge every other row 6 times, then 3 sts. every other row 6 times. At the same time, with knit side of work towards you, the left edge of work is the center back seam, decrease on this edge 1 st. every inch 2 times.

With No. 3½ Needles, pick up these 42 bound off sts. and the 44 sts. from st. holder and work in ribbing (K. 1, P. 1) for 2 inches, bind off.

Left Leg—Work to correspond to Right Side.

Sew seams. Work beading under ribbing at top for elastic.

CAP: With Navy and No. 4 Needles cast on 108 sts. Work even in ribbing (K. 1, P. 1) for 8½ inches. Next row * K. 2 tog. across row (54 sts.) Purl 1 row. Repeat from * until 7 sts. remain. Draw these sts. together tightly. Sew seam.

With Canary make a pompon and sew to top of cap.

GLOVES: Right Glove—With Navy and No. 4 Needles cast on 87 sts. Work even in the same pattern as for the sweater for 7 inches. Next row change to No. 3½ Needles and work in ribbing (K. 1, P. 1) as follows: work 4 sts., then K. 2 tog. across row until 5 sts. remain on left hand needle, work these 5 sts. (48 sts. remain on needle).

Place these sts. on 3 double pointed needles, 17 sts. on each of the first 2 needles and 14 sts. on the third needle, and join.

Work even in ribbing (K. 1, P. 1) for 3 inches.

On next row work to last 3 sts. on round, put in a marker for beginning of thumb, increase 1 st. in first st., work 1 st., increase 1 st. in last st. Continue to increase in this manner (in the first st. after the marker and in the last st. of the round) every other row until there are 15 sts. be­tween the marker and the end of round. Place these 15 sts. on a thread, for thumb.

Cast on 4 sts. over the thumb sts. and work even for 2 inches.

First Finger—Work to last 14 sts. of round. Place these sts. on a thread. Cast on 2 sts. at end of round (16 sts. on needle). Divide these 16 sts. on 3 needles. Work 2 inches even. Next row K. every 3rd and 4th sts. tog. around row. K. 1 row. Next row K. every 2nd and 3rd sts. tog. around row. K. 1. row. Next row K. 2 sts. tog. around row. Draw remaining sts. together. Fasten.

Second Finger—Take first 6 sts. from strand, cast on 2 sts., take last 6 sts. from strand, pick up 2 sts. along side of first finger (16 sts.). Work even for 2¼ inches. Then decrease same as for first finger.

Third Finger—Work the same as for second finger, working 2 inches even before decreasing.

Fourth Finger—Use remaining sts. and pick up 2 sts. on side of third finger. Work 1½ inches even. Next row K. every 2nd and 3rd sts. tog. around row. K. 1 row. K. 2 tog. around row. Finish like first finger.

Thumb—Place the 15 sts. on needles and pick up 4 sts. over cast on sts. Work even, knitting 2 sts. tog. once over picked up sts. On remaining 16 sts. work even for 1¾ inches. Finish same as first finger.

LEFT GLOVE: Work same as Right Glove to fingers.

First Finger—K. 7 sts. of first needle, slip rest of sts. of first needle, all sts. of second needle, and all sts. but last 7 sts. of third needle, on a thread. Cast on 2 sts. before the last 7 sts. Work same as first finger of other hand. Work remain­ing fingers same as Right Glove.
