Increase 1 st. each side every inch 3 times, then every ½ inch 7 times. (126 sts. on needle.) When work measures 15 inches from start, bind off 7 sts. at the beginning of each of the next 2 rows, then decrease 1 st. each side every other row 9 times. (94 sts.)

When work measures 7 inches straight up from the bound off sts. at underarm, bind off 6 sts. at the beginning of each of the next 10 rows. Bind off remaining 34 sts. for back of neck.

Right Front—Cast on 71 sts. Work first 15 sts. in Moss St. and last 56 sts. in pattern. Work these first 15 sts. in Moss St. up the entire front edge, working the rest of the front in pattern. When work measures ½ inch from start, decrease 1 st. at side edge, then decrease 1 st. at side edge every inch 5 times. At the same time, when work measures 1 inch from start, work a buttonhole in front band as follows:

Working from front edge, work 6 sts., bind off 4 sts., work across row. Next row cast on 4 sts. over the bound off sts. All buttonholes are made in this manner. Work a buttonhole at front edge every 3 inches 6 more times.

When decreases at side edge are completed, increase 1 st. at side edge every inch 4 times then every ½ inch 7 times.

When work measures 15 inches from start, bind off 7 sts. once at side edge, then decrease 1 st. on same edge every other row 14 times.

When work measures 20 inches from start (1 inch above last buttonhole), bind off the 15 sts. which have been worked in Moss St., then decrease at neck edge 1 st. every 3rd row 10 times.

At the same time, when work measures 7 inches straight up from the bound off sts. at underarm, bind off 6 sts. at armhole edge every other row 5 times.
