MATERIALS REQUIRED:
Columbia-Minerva Knitting Worsted (4 oz skein) - 3(3-4-4) skeins
OR
Columbia-Minerva Calypso Germantown Knitting Worsted (2 or 4 oz skein) - 14(14-16-18) ozs About 25 yards of sequin trim

Knitting Needles: 1 pair each "Boye" Sizes 8 and 9

Gauge: On Size 9 needles - 4 sts to 1 inch; 6 rows to 1 inch

BACK: With Size 8 needles cast on 68(70-72-74) sts. Work in pat as follows: Row 1 - Right side: K 5(6-7-8), * P 1, K 2, P 1, K 2, P 1, K 10, repeat from * across, ending K 5(6-7-8). Row 2: P 5(6-7-8), * K 1, P 2, K 1, P 2, K 1, P 10, repeat from * across, ending P 5(6-7-8). Rows 3, 5 and 7: P. Rows 4 and 6: Same as Row 2. Rows 8 through 15: Repeat Rows 2 and 1 four times. Rows 16 and 18: K. Row 17: Same as Row 1. Rows 19 through 24: Repeat Rows 1 and 2 three times. Repeat these 24 rows for pat, changing to Size 9 needles when back measures 3 inches. Work until back measures 9(9-10-10) inches from start. Armholes: Bind off 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each side every other row twice - 56(58-60-62) sts on needle. Work in pat until armholes measure 8(8½-8½-9) inches straight above bound-off sts at underarm. Shoulders: Bind off 6 sts at beg of next 6 rows, then bind off rem'ing 20(22-24-26) sts.

LEFT FRONT: With Size 8 needles cast on 33(35- 37-39) sts. Work in pat as follows: Row 1 - Right side: K 5(7-9-11), * P 1, K 2, P 1, K 2, P 1 *, K 10, repeat from * to * once, K 3, inc 1 st in next st. Row 2: Inc 1 st in first st, P 4, * K 1, P 2, K 1, P 2, K 1 *, P 10, repeat from * to * once, P 5(7-9-11). Continue in this manner, inc'ing 1 st at front edge on next row, then every other row twice - 38(40-42-44) sts on needle. Work until front measures 3 inches from start. Change to Size 9 needles and work until front measures same as back to underarm. Armhole and Neck: Bind off 4 sts at side edge, then dec 1 st at same edge every other row 2(3-4-5) times AND AT THE SAME TIME dec 1 st at front edge, then every 4th row 6 times, then every other row 7(8-9-10) times. Work until armhole measures same as on back. Shoulder: Bind off 6 sts at armhole edge every other row 3 times.

RIGHT FRONT: Work to correspond to Left Front.

SLEEVES: With Size 8 needles cast on 40(42-44-46) sts. Work in St St for 1 inch, P next K row for turn of hem. Change to Size 9 needles and continue in St St, inc'ing 1 st each side every 8th(10th-8th-10th) row 7(6-7-6) times - 54(54-58-58) sts on needle. Work until sleeve measures 12(12-13-13) inches from turn of hem. Cap of Sleeve: Bind off 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec 1 st at beg of next 22(22-26-26) rows. Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 4 rows, then 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Bind off rem'ing 10 sts.

BIAS BAND: With Size 8 needles cast on 11 sts. Row 1 - Wrong side: P. Row 2: K 2 tog, K 8, inc 1 st in last st. Repeat these 2 rows until band measures about 76(78-82-84) inches, to fit around entire jacket.

With right side up, pin each piece to board and block lightly, stretching slightly to open horizontal plaid lines. Sew sequin trim along horizontal and vertical lines of plaid as illustrated. Sew sleeves in place, then sew underarm and sleeve seams. Turn up hems and sew. With right side facing, using sewing thread, sew band around all edges, rounding front corners. Fold band in half toward wrong side, press lightly, then sew to wrong side.
