MATERIALS REQUIRED:
Columbia-Minerva Calibar (2 oz skein) - 12(13-14-15) skeins
OR
Columbia-Minerva Nylon and Wool Calibrette (2 oz skein) - 11(12-12-13) skeins

Knitting Needles: 1 pair "Boye" Size 10½, 1 "Boye" cable needle and 1 "Boye" aluminum crochet hook "F" (Size 3 or 4)

Gauge: 4 sts to 1 inch; 5 rows to 1 inch

NOTE: To twist 2 sts, K the 2nd st through front, then K the first st.

BACK: Cast on 70(74-78-82) sts. Row 1 - Wrong side: K 2(4-2-4); P 2, K 2 across next 8(8-12-12) sts, P 12, K 2; P 2, K 2 across next 24 sts, P 12; K 2, P 2 across next 8(8-12-12) sts, ending K 2(4-2-4). Row 2: P 2(4-2-4); twist 2, P 2 across next 8(8-12-12) sts; sl next 6 sts onto cable needle and hold in back, K next 6 sts, then K the 6 sts from cable needle for cable twist; P 2, twist 2 across next 24 sts, P 2, twist cable on next 12 sts; P 2, twist 2 across next 8(8-12-12) sts, ending P 2(4-2-4). Row 3: Same as Row 1. Row 4: P 2(4-2-4); twist 2, P 2 across 8(8-12-12) sts, K 12, P 2; twist 2, P 2 across next 24 sts, K 12; P 2, twist 2 across next 8(8-12-12) sts, ending P 2(4-2-4). Rows 5 through 16: Repeat Rows 3 and 4 six times. Repeat these 16 rows for pat. Work until back measures 9½ inches or desired length from start to underarm. Armholes: Bind off 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each side every other row 3 times - 56(60-64-68) sts on needle. Keeping 3(1-3-1) P sts on right side of work at each armhole edge, work until armholes measure 8(8½-8½-9) inches straight above bound-off sts at underarm. Shoulders: Bind off 9(10-10-11) sts at beg of next 4(4-2-4) rows, then on Size 16 only bind off 11 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Bind off rem'ing 20(20-22-24) sts.

LEFT FRONT: Cast on 39(41-43-45) sts. Row 1 - Wrong side: K 5; P 2, K 2 across next 12 sts, P 12; K 2, P 2 across next 8(8-12-12) sts, ending K 2(4-2-4). Row 2: P 2(4-2-4); twist 2, P 2 across next 8(8-12-12) sts, twist cable on next 12 sts; P 2, twist 2 across next 12 sts, P 5. Continue in pat until front measures same as back to underarm. Armhole: Bind off 4 sts at side edge, then dec 1 st at same edge every other row 3 times - 32(34-36-38) sts on needle. Keep 3(1-3-1) P sts on right side of work at armhole edge. Work until armhole measures 5½(5¾-6-6¼) inches straight above bound-off sts at underarm. Neck: Bind off 10(10-11-12) sts at front edge, then bind off 2 sts at same edge every other row twice. Work until armhole measures same as on back. Shoulder: Bind off 9(10-10-11) sts at armhole edge every other row 2(2-1-2) times, then on Size 16 only bind off 11 sts at same edge once. Place markers at front edge for 4 buttons, having first marker 1 inch above lower edge and 4th marker 1 inch below neck.

RIGHT FRONT: Work to correspond to Left Front, starting pat as follows: Row 1 - Wrong side: K 2(4-2-4); P 2, K 2 across next 8(8-12-12) sts, P 12; K 2, P 2 across next 12 sts, K 5 for front border. Work buttonholes opposite markers as follows: Right side, P 1, bind off next 3 sts, work to end of row. Next row cast on 3 sts over the bound-off sts.

SLEEVES: All Sizes cast on 40 sts. Row 1 - Wrong side: K 2; P 2, K 2 across next 12 sts, P 12, K 2; P 2, K 2 to end of row. Row 2: P 2; twist 2, P 2 across 12 sts, twist cable on next 12 sts, P 2; twist 2, P 2 to end of row. Continue in established pat for 2 inches, inc 1 st each side. Working added sts in twist 2, p 2 rib pat, inc 1 st each side every 10th(8th-8th-6th) row 5(6-7-4) times, then on Size 18 only every 8th row 4 times more - 52(54-56-58) sts on needle. Work until sleeve measures 16½(16½-17-17) inches or desired length. Cap of Sleeve: Bind off 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each side every other row until 22 sts rem. Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 4 rows, bind off rem'ing 14 sts.

Sew shoulder seams. Sew sleeves in place, then sew underarm and sleeve seams. With right side facing, work 1 row of sc across lower edge. Break yarn. Work 1 row of sc around neck edge and continue around all edges of jacket, working in back loops on lower and neck edge. Break yarn at top of right front. Work 2 rows of sc on sleeve edges, working 2nd row of sc in back loops only. Turn under 2nd row of sc and sew to wrong side for hems. Face front edges with grosgrain ribbon, working around buttonholes.
