MATERIALS REQUIRED:
Columbia-Minerva Knitting Worsted (4 oz skein) - Main Color (MC) - 4(4-5-5) skeins and Contrasting Color (CC) - 1 skein for all sizes
OR
Columbia-Minerva Calypso Germantown Knitting Worsted (2 or 4 oz skein) - Main Color (MC) - 18(20-20-22) ozs and Contrasting Color (CC) - 4 ozs for all sizes

Knitting Needles: 1 pair "Boye" Size 8, 1 set "Boye" double point needles Size 4 and one "Boye" steel crochet hook Size 0
Chart

Gauge: Stockinette Stitch on Size 8 needles - 4½ sts to 1 inch; 6 rows to 1 inch

BACK: With MC and Size 8 needles cast on 86(90-94-100) sts. P 1 row. Wind 10(12) bobbins with CC and 11(13) bobbins with MC. Always twist strands when changing colors. Following chart, work in St St as follows: Row 1 - Right side: With MC, K 10(12-14-1), * 2 CC, 14 MC, repeat from * 3(3-3-5) times more, K 2 CC, 10(12-14-1) MC. Row 2 and all even rows: P in colors as they appear on needle. Continue from chart, then repeat these 32 rows for pat. Work until back measures 14(13¾-13½-13) inches. Armholes: Bind off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each side every other row 4(4-4-5) times - 68(72-76-80) sts on needle. Work until armholes measure 8(8¼-8½-9) inches straight above bound-off sts at underarm, ending with Row 32 on chart. Shoulders: Bind off 10(11-11-12) sts at beg of next 4(4-2-4) rows, then on Size 16 only bind off 12 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Sl rem'ing 28(28-30-32) sts onto st holder for back of neck.

FRONT: Work same as Back until armholes measure 5(5¼-5½-6) inches, ending on Row 32 - 68(72-76-80) sts on needle. Neck: Work 24(26-27-28) sts, sl rem'ing sts onto st holder. Working on one side only, dec 1 st at neck edge every other row 4 times. Work until armhole measures same as on back. Shoulder: Bind off 10(11-11-12) sts at armhole edge every other row 2(2-1-2) times, then on Size 16 only bind off 12 sts once. Leaving center 20(20-22-24) sts on st holder, work other side to correspond.

SLEEVES: With MC and Size 4 needles cast on 48(48-50-50) sts. Work in K 1, P 1 ribbing for 3 inches. P 1 row, inc'ing 2(4-4-6) sts evenly across - 50(52-54-56) sts on needle. Change to Size 8 needles and start pat as follows: Row 1 - Right side: With MC K 8(9-10-11), * 2 CC, 14 MC, repeat from * once, 2 CC, 8(9-10-11) MC. Row 2 and all even rows: P in colors as they appear on needle. Continue from chart, inc'ing 1 st each side every 12th row 5 times - 60(62-64-66) sts on needle - working added sts in MC only. Work until sleeve measures 17 inches or desired length from start. Cap of Sleeve: Bind off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each side until 22 sts rem. Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 4 rows, then bind off rem'ing 14 sts.

Sew shoulder seams.

TURTLE NECK: With MC and Size 4 needles, on right side of work pick up and K 88(88-92-96) sts around neck edge, including sts on st holders. Work in K 1, P 1 ribbing for 4½ inches. Bind off loosely in ribbing.

Sew sleeves in place, then sew sleeve and underarm seams, leaving 3-inch slits at lower edge. Turn in 1 st on sides of slits and sew to wrong side. With MC work 1 row of sc on right side at lower edges.

FRINGE: With MC and right side facing, work 1 sc in first sc on back and pull up loop to 1¼ inch, * remove hook from long loop, insert hook in next st, yo and draw up a loop, ch 1 tightly, draw loop up to same length as last long loop, repeat from * across lower edge. Work fringe on front.
