MATERIALS REQUIRED:
Columbia-Minerva Knitting Worsted (4 oz skein) - Main Color (MC) - 5(5-6-6) skeins and small amount of Contrasting Color (CC)
OR
Columbia-Minerva Calypso Germantown Knitting Worsted (2 or 4 oz skein) - Main Color (MC) - 20(22-24-26) ozs and small amount of Contrasting Color (CC)

Knitting Needles: 1 pair "Boye" Size 8 and one "Boye"
Circular Needle Size 4 - 24 inch

Gauge: Pattern Stitch on Size 8 needles - 5 sts to 1 inch; 6 rows to 1 inch

BACK: With MC and Size 4 circular needle cast on 99(103-109-113) sts. Work back and forth in ribbing as follows: Row 1: K 1, * P 1, K 1, repeat from * across. Row 2: P 1, * K 1, P 1, repeat from * across. Repeat these 2 rows for 2 inches, ending with Row 1. Change to Size 8 needles and work in pat as fol­lows: Row 1 - Right side: K 4(6-3-5), * P 1, K 5, repeat from * across, ending P 1, then K 4(6-3-5). Row 2: P 4(6-3-5), * K 1, P 5, repeat from * across, ending K 1, then P 4(6-3-5). Repeat these 2 rows for pat until back measures 14(14-14½-14½) inches from start. Armholes: Bind off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each side every other row 4 times - 81(85-91-95) sts on needle. Work until armholes meas­ure 8½(9-9½-10) inches straight above bound-off sts at underarm. Shoulder: On Sizes 38 and 42 only, bind off 9(10) sts at beg of next 4 rows, then 8(9) sts at beg of next 2 rows. On Sizes 40 and 44 only, bind off 9(10) sts at beg of next 6 rows. All Sizes sl rem'ing 29(31-33-35) sts onto st holder.

POCKET LININGS - Make 2: With MC and Size 8 needles cast on 25 sts. Work in St St for 4½ inches, ending on wrong side of work. Sl sts onto st holder.

RIGHT FRONT: With MC and Size 4 circular needle cast on 47(49-52-54) sts. Work in K 1, P 1 ribbing for 2 inches. Change to Size 8 needles and work in pat as follows: Row 1 - Right side: * P 1, K 5, repeat from * across, ending P 1, then K 4(6-3-5). Row 2: P 4(6-3-5), K 1, * P 5, K 1, repeat from * across. Repeat these 2 rows until front measures 5 inches, ending on right side. Pocket: Work 10(12-15-17) sts, work next 25 sts and sl on holder for border, work 12 sts. Next row work 12 sts, with right side of lining to wrong side of front, work in pat across lining, work to end of row. Work until front measures same as back to underarm. Armhole and Neck: Bind off 5 sts at side edge. Dec 1 st at same edge every other row 4 times AND AT THE SAME TIME dec 1 st at front edge every 4th row 12(13-14-15) times. Work until armhole measures same as on back. Shoulder: On Sizes 38 and 42 only bind off 9(10) sts at armhole edge twice, then 8(9) sts once. On Sizes 40 and 44 bind off (9-10) sts at armhole edge 3 times.

LEFT FRONT: Work to correspond to Right Front, reversing shaping and pat and starting pat above ribbing as follows: On right side of work K 4(6-3- 5), P 1, * K 5, P 1, repeat from * across.

SLEEVES: With MC and Size 4 circular needle cast on 45(47-49-51) sts. Work back and forth in K 1, P 1 ribbing for 3 inches, inc'ing 1 st each side on last row - 47(49-51-53) sts on needle. Change to Size 8 needles and start pat as follows: On right side K 2(3-4-5), * P 1, K 5, repeat from * across, ending P 1, then K 2(3-4-5). Continue in pat, inc'ing 1 st each side every 4th row 10 times, then every 6th row 6 times - 79(81-83-85) sts on needle. Work until sleeve measures 19(19-19½-19½) inches or desired length from start. Cap of Sleeve: Bind off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each side every other row 12(13-14-15) times, then bind off 3 sts at beg of next 6 rows. Bind off rem'ing 27 sts.
POCKET BORDERS AND FACINGS: With wrong side facing, sl sts of pocket onto Size 8 needle and join CC. Work in St St for 5 rows. K next P row for turn of hem, then work 5 rows more in St St, bind off.

Sew shoulder seams.

FRONT BORDERS AND COLLAR: With MC and Size 4 circular needle, starting at lower right front pick up and K as follows: 72(72-73-73) sts to start of neck, 58(60-62-64) sts on neck to shoulder, K 29(31-33-35) sts from st holder across back of neck, 130(132-135-137) sts to lower edge - 289(295-303- 309) sts on needle. Work in K 1, P 1 ribbing for 3 rows. Work 5 buttonholes as follows: Work 217(223-230-236) sts, * bind off next 4 sts, work 12 sts in ribbing, repeat from * 3 times more, bind off next 4 sts, work ribbing to end. Next row cast on 4 sts over bound-off sts. Work 1 more row. First Short Row: Work ribbing over 217(223-230-236) sts. Row 2: Turn, sl 1, work ribbing on next 144(150-156-162) sts. Row 3: Turn, sl 1, work 141(145-149-153) sts. Row 4: Turn, sl 1, work 138(140-142-144) sts. Row 5: Turn, sl 1, work 133(135-137-139) sts. Work 5 sts less every row for 21 rows more - 28(30-32-34) sts left at center for back of neck. Turn, sl 1, work rib­bing to end of row. Bind off in ribbing.

Sew sleeves in place. Sew underarm and sleeve seams. Turn under pocket facings and sew to wrong side. Face each front border with grosgrain ribbon, work­ing around buttonholes.
