MATERIALS REQUIRED:
Columbia-Minerva Knitting Worsted (4 oz skein) - Main Color (MC) - 5(6-6-7) skeins and 1 skein each of Colors 1 and 2
OR
Columbia-Minerva Calypso Germantown Knitting Worsted (2 or 4 oz skein) - Main Color (MC) - 22(24-26-28) ozs and 2 ozs each of Colors 1 and 2

Knitting Needles: 1 pair "Boye" Size 7 and 1 "Boye" Circular Needle Size 5 - 24 inch

Gauge: Stockinette Stitch on Size 7 needles - 5 sts to 1 inch; 6 rows to 1 inch

BACK: With MC and Size 5 needle cast on 98(102-106-110) sts. Work back and forth in St St for 1¼ inches. K next P row for turn of hem, inc'ing 1 st each side - 100(104-108-112) sts on needle. Change to Size 7 needles and continue in St St. Work until back measures 17(17-17½-17½) inches or desired length from turn of hem. Armholes: Bind off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each side every other row 4 times - 82(86-90-94) sts on needle. Work until armholes measure 8½(9-9½-10) inches straight above bound-off sts. Shoulders: Bind off 6(6-7-7) sts at beg of next 6(6-6-8) rows, then on Sizes 38, 40 and 42 only, bind off 7(8-6) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Sl rem'ing 32(34-36-38) sts onto st holder.

RIGHT FRONT: With MC and Size 5 needle cast on 60 (62-64-66) sts. Work in St St for 1¼ inches. K next P row for turn of hem, inc'ing 1 st at side edge - 61 (63-65-67) sts on needle. Change to Size 7 needles and work until front measures 4(4-4½-4½) inches less than back to underarm. Neck: Dec 1 st at front edge, repeat dec every 4th row 18(19-20-21) times more AND AT THE SAME TIME when front meas­ures same as back to underarm. Shape Armhole: Bind off 6 sts at side edge, then 3 sts at same edge once. Dec 1 st at same edge every other row 8 times. Work until armhole measures same as on back. Shoulder: Bind off 6(6-7-7) sts at armhole edge 3(3-3-4) times, then on Sizes 38, 40 and 42 only bind off 7(8-6) sts at same edge once. Place markers for 3 sets of buttons, having first markers 2 inches above turn of hem and 3rd markers 1 inch below first dec at neck.

LEFT FRONT: Work to correspond to Right Front, reversing the shaping and working buttonholes op­posite markers as follows: Starting at front edge P 3, bind off next 4 sts, P 10, bind off next 4 sts, P to end of row. Next row cast on 4 sts over each set of bound-off sts.

SLEEVES: With MC and Size 5 needle cast on 48(50-52-54) sts. Work in St St for 1 inch. K next P row for turn of hem, inc'ing 1 st each side - 50(52-54-56) sts on needle. Change to Size 7 needles. Inc 1 st each side every 8th row 10 times, then every 6th row 3 times - 76(78-80-82) sts on needle. Work until sleeve measures 19(19-19½-19½) inches or desired length from turn of hem. Cap of Sleeve: Bind off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows, 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each side every other row until 32 sts rem. Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 6 rows. Bind off.

POCKET: With MC and Size 7 needles cast on 26 sts. Work in St St for 1¾ inches, ending with a P row. Break yarn. Edging: With Color 1 and Size 5 needle, on right side of work pick up and K 12 sts on side edge, K across sts on needle, pick up and K 12 sts on other side - 50 sts on needle. Work in K 2, P 2 rib­bing for 3 rows. With Color 2, K 1 row, then work in ribbing for 1 more row. Bind off loosely in ribbing.

Sew shoulder seams.

FRONT BORDER: With Color 1 and Size 5 needle, starting at turn of hem, pick up and K 59(59-61-61) sts on right front edge to first dec at neck, pick up and K 67(70-73-76) sts to shoulder, K across 30(32-34-36) sts on st holder, pick up and K 126(129-134-137) sts on other side to turn of hem - 282(290-302-310) sts on needle. Work in K 2, P 2 ribbing for 3 rows. With Color 2, K 1 row, then work 1 more row in ribbing. Bind off in ribbing.

Sew sleeves in place. Sew underarm and sleeve seams. Face buttonhole and button sections with grosgrain ribbon, working around buttonholes. Turn up hems and sew on wrong side. Sew pocket in place, turning in the cast-on edge and 1 st on ribbed edge.
