MATERIALS REQUIRED:
Columbia-Minerva Calibar (2 oz skein) - 14(15-16- 17) skeins
OR
Columbia-Minerva Nylon and Wool Calibrette (2 oz skein) - 13(14-14-15) skeins

Knitting Needles: 1 pair "Boye" Size 10½, 1 "Boye" cable needle and 1 "Boye" steel crochet hook Size 0

Gauge: 3½ sts to 1 inch; 5 rows to 1 inch

BACK: Cast on 60(64-68-72) sts. Work in St St for 3 rows, then K next P row for turn of hem. Work in St St for next 18(18-20-20) rows, then work in pat as follows: Row 1 - Right side: P 4(6-4-6), * K 4, P 4, repeat from * across, ending K 4, then P 4(6-4-6). Row 2: K 4(6-4-6), * P 4, K 4, repeat from * across, ending P 4, then K 4(6-4-6). Row 3: Same as Row 1. Row 4 - Wrong side: K 4(6-4-6), * sl next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold in front, P next 2 sts, then P the 2 sts from cable needle for cable twist, K 4, repeat from * across, ending twist cable, then K 4(6-4-6). Row 5: Same as Row 1. Row 6: Same as Row 2. Work in St St for 18(18-20-20) rows. Repeat last 24(24-26-26) rows until back measures 13½(13½-14½-14½) inches from turn of hem. Armholes: Bind off 3(3-3-4) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each side every other row 3(4-4-4) times - 48(50-54-56) sts on needle. Work until armholes measure 8(8-8½-8½) inches straight above bound-off sts at underarm. Shoulders: Bind off 8(9-9-10) sts at beg of next 4(2-4-2) rows, then on Sizes 14 and 18 only bind off 8(9) sts twice. Bind off rem'ing 16(16-18-18) sts for back of neck.

POCKET LINING - Make 2: Cast on 16 sts. Work in St St for 4 inches, ending with a K row. Place sts on st holder.

LEFT FRONT: Cast on 44(46-49-50) sts. Work in St St for 3 rows, K next P row for turn of hem. Con­tinue in St St for 18(18-20-20) rows, starting pat on next row as follows: Row 1 - Right side: P 4(6-1-2), * K 4, P 4, repeat from * across. Row 2: * K 4, P 4, repeat from * across, ending K 4(6-1-2). Work until there are 24(24-26-26) rows from turn of hem. Pocket: K 12(14-17-18) bind off next 16 sts, K 16. Next row P 16, P across one pocket lining, P to end of row. Work until front measures same as back to underarm. Armhole: Bind off 3(3-4-4) sts at side edge. Dec 1 st at same edge every other row 3(4-4-4) times - 38(39-41-42) sts on needle. Work until front edge measures 19½(19½-21-21) inches from turn of hem, 1 row above cable stripe. Neck: Bind off 17(17-18-18) sts at front edge. Dec 1 st at same edge every other row 5 times. Work until armhole measures same as on back. Shoulder: On Sizes 12 and 16 only bind off 8(9) sts at armhole edge twice, on Sizes 14 and 18 only bind off 9(10) sts at armhole edge once, then 8(9) sts at same edge once.

RIGHT FRONT: Work to correspond to Left Front, reversing the shaping and starting cable pat as fol­lows: Row 1 - Right side: * P 4, K 4, repeat from * across, ending P 4, then K 4(6-1-2). Row 2: K 4(6- 1-2), * P 4, K 4, repeat from * across. Row 3: P 1, bind off next 2 sts for buttonhole, K 4, P 1, bind off next 2 sts for 2nd buttonhole, work to end of row. Next row work cables, casting on 2 sts over each set of bound-off sts. Repeat buttonholes in center of each cable pat stripe to neck.

SLEEVES: Cast on 32(34-36-38) sts. Work in St St, inc'ing 1 st each side every 8th row 8 times - 48(50-52-54) sts on needle. Work until sleeve measures 17(17-17½-17½) inches or desired length to under­arm. Cap of Sleeve: Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each side every other row 5 times. Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 8(8-10-10) rows, then bind off rem'ing 16(18-16-18) sts.

COLLAR: Cast on 82(82-86-86) sts. Work in K 2, P 2 ribbing for 4½ inches. Bind off 8 sts at beg of next 8 rows. Bind off rem'ing 18(18-22-22) sts.

Sew shoulder seams. Sew sleeves in place, then sew underarm and sleeve seams. Turn up hem and sew to wrong side. Starting at lower edge of right front, work 1 row of sc around front and neck edges. Work 1 row of sc on lower edge of sleeves. Work 2 rows of sc across pocket opening, turn to wrong side and sew in place. Sew bound-off edge of collar to neck, start­ing and ending about 1½ inches from front edges. Face front edges with 3-inch ribbon, working around buttonholes.
