MATERIALS REQUIRED:
Columbia-Minerva Knitting Worsted (4 oz skein) - 4(4-5-5) skeins
OR
Columbia-Minerva Calypso Germantown Knitting Worsted (2 or 4 oz skein) - 18(18-22-24) ozs

Knitting Needles: 1 pair "Boye" Size 8 needles, 1 set "Boye" Size 6 - 10 inch double point needles and 1 "Boye" cable needle

Gauge: Rib pat on Size 8 needles - 5 sts to 1 inch; 6 rows to 1 inch

BACK: With Size 8 needles cast on 80(86-92-98) sts. Row 1 - Right side: P 2, * K 1, P 2, repeat from * across. Row 2: K 2, * P 1, K 2, repeat from * across. Repeat these 2 rows for pat. Work until back meas­ures 13(13-13½-13) inches from start. Raglan Armholes: Bind off 2(2-2-3) sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec as follows: Row 1 - Right side: K 1, sl 1, K 1, psso, work in rib pat to last 3 sts, K 2 tog, K 1. Row 2: P 2, work in rib pat to last 2 sts, P 2. Re­peat these 2 rows 26(28-30-32) times more. Sl rem'ing 22(24-26-26) sts onto st holder for neck.

FRONT: Work same as Back until front measures 5½(5½-6-6) inches from start, ending with Row 2 of pat. Front Opening: Row 1 - Right side: Work in rib pat on next 27(30-33-36) sts, P 1, K 6, P 1, K 1, sl rem'ing 44(47-50-53) sts onto st holder. Row 2: P 1, K 1, P 6, K 1, * P 1, K 2, repeat from * across. Row 3: Same as Row 1, twisting cable on K 6 panel as fol­lows: Sl 3 sts onto cable needle and hold in back, K next 3 sts, then K the 3 sts from cable needle. Row 4: Same as Row 2. Rows 5 through 8: Repeat Rows 1 and 2. Repeat Rows 3 through 8 for pat. Work until front measures same as back to underarm, ending on wrong side of work. Raglan Armhole: Row 1 - Right side: Bind off 2(2-2-3) sts at beg of row, work across in pat. Row 2: Work in pat across to last 2 sts, P 2. Row 3: K 1, sl 1, K 1, psso, work across in pat. Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until armhole measures 1 inch straight above bound-off sts. Neck: Dec 1 st at front edge, then every 4th row 6(7-8-8) times continuing to twist cable with less sts after decs until 3 sts rem in rib AND AT THE SAME TIME continue to dec at armhole edge until all sts are worked off. Sl sts from st holder onto needle, attach yarn at center, bind off 8 sts and work on rem'ing 36(39-42-45) sts to corre­spond to other side.

SLEEVES: With Size 6 needles cast on 42(44-46-46) sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1 for 1½ inches, inc'irg 2(3-4-4) sts evenly across last row - 44(47-50-50) sts on needle. Change to Size 8 needles and work in rib pat as on back, inc'ing 1 st each side every 6th(6th-8th-8th) row 11(11-4-3) times, then on Sizes 14 and 16 only inc 1 st each side every 6th row 6(8) times - 66(69-70-72) sts on needle. Work until sleeve measures 15(15-15½-15½) inches. Cap of Sleeve: Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec same as on back until 12(13-6-2) sts rem. On Sizes 10, 12 and 14 only dec 1 st each side every row until 2(3-2) sts rem. Bind off.

Sew sleeves to front and back.

FRONT BORDER AND COLLAR: With Size 6 double point needles on right side of work, starting at front opening pick up and K 48 sts to first neck dec, pick up and K 52(56-60-64) sts to back of neck, place marker, K 22(24-26-26) sts on holder, place marker, then pick up and K 52(56-60-64) sts to first dec and 48 sts to front opening - divide the 222(232-242-250) sts on 3 needles. Work back and forth in ribbing of K 1, P 1, working short rows as follows: Row 1 - Wrong side: Work in ribbing to 6 sts beyond right front marker, turn. Row 2: Sl 1, work in ribbing to 6 sts beyond left front marker, turn. Always sl first st on short rows. Continue to work 6 sts more each side of each marker until 54(60-66-66) sts are worked beyond marker on each side. Work in ribbing across all sts for 10 more rows, working buttonholes on 4th row as follows: On right side, work 3 sts, * bind off next 3 sts, work 11 sts, repeat from * twice more, bind off next 3 sts, work to end of row - 4 buttonholes. On next row cast on 3 sts over each set of bound-off sts. Bind off in ribbing.

Sew underarm and sleeve seams. Sew ends of border to front opening with right side over left side.
