MATERIALS REQUIRED:
Columbia-Minerva Calibar (2 oz skein) - 18(19-20- 21) skeins
OR
Columbia-Minerva Nylon and Wool Calibrette (2 oz skein) - 16(17-18-19) skeins

Knitting Needles: 1 pair each "Boye" Sizes 6 and 10

Gauge: Pattern Stitch on Size 10 needles - 4 sts to 1 inch; 5 rows to 1 inch

BACK: With Size 10 needles cast on 78(82-86-90) sts. Work in St St for 3 rows. K next P row for turn of hem, inc'ing 1 st each side - 80(84-88-92) sts on needle. K 1 row, P 1 row, then work in pat as follows: Row 1 - Right side: K 1, * skip 1 st, K next st through back loop, do not drop from needle, K the skipped st, sl the 2 sts from needle for cross st, K 2, repeat from * across, ending cross 2 sts, K 1. Row 2: P. Row 3: K. Row 4: P. Row 5: K 3, * cross 2 sts, K 2, repeat from * across, ending cross 2 sts, K 3. Rows 6, 7 and 8: Same as Rows 2, 3 and 4. Repeat these 8 rows for pat. Work in pat until back measures 16½(16½-17-17) inches from turn of hem or desired length. Arm- holes: Bind off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows - 70(74-78-82) sts on needle. Work until armholes measure 9(9½-10-10½) inches straight above bound-off sts. Shoulders: On Sizes 38, 40 and 42 only bind off 8 sts at beg of next 6(4-2) rows, then on Sizes 40, 42 and 44 only bind off 9 sts at beg of next 2(4-6) rows. Bind off rem'ing 22(24-26-28) sts for back of neck.

POCKET LININGS - Make 2: With Size 10 needles cast on 22 sts. Work in St St for 4 inches, ending with a K row.

RIGHT FRONT: With Size 10 needles cast on 33(35- 37-39) sts. Work in St St for 3 rows, K next P row for turn of hem, inc'ing 1 st at beg of row - 34(36-38-40) sts on needle. K 1 row, P 1 row, then work pat as follows: Row 1 - Right side: K 1, * cross 2 sts, K 2, repeat from * across, ending cross 2 sts, K 3(1-3-1). Row 2: P. Row 3: K. Row 4: P. Row 5: K 3, * cross 2 sts, K 2, repeat from * across, ending cross 2 sts, K 1(3-1-3). Rows 6, 7 and 8: Same as Rows 2, 3 and 4. Repeat these 8 rows for pat. Work in pat until front measures 4½ inches from turn of hem, ending with a P row. Pocket Opening: Work 13(14-15-16) sts, work next 20 sts and sl these sts onto st holder, work to end of row. Next row P to 1 st before pocket opening, P 1 st of front tog with 1 st of pocket lining, P next 20 sts of pocket lining, P last st of pocket lining tog with 1 st of front, P to end of row. Work until front measures same as back to underarm. Armhole: Bind off 5 sts at side edge - 29(31-33-35) sts on needle. Work until armhole measures 1 inch straight above bound-off sts at underarm, ending on wrong side. Neck: K 1, sl 1, K 1, psso, work to end of row. Repeat dec at neck every 6th row 4(5-6-7) times. Work until armhole measures same as on back. Shoulder: On Sizes 38, 40 and 42 only bind off 8 sts at armhole edge 3(2-1) times, then on Sizes 40, 42 and 44 only bind off 9 sts at same edge 1(2-3) times.

LEFT FRONT: Work to correspond to Right Front, reversing pat and shaping.

SLEEVES: With Size 6 needles cast on 38(40-42-44) sts. Work in K 1, P 1 ribbing for 3 inches, inc'ing 2 (4-6-8) sts evenly on last row - 40(44-48-52) sts on needle. Change to Size 10 needles. K 1 row, P 1 row, then work in pat as on back, inc'ing 1 st each side every 4th row 16 times, working added sts in pat - 72(76-80-84) sts on needle. Work until sleeve measures 20(20-20½-20½) inches from start or desired length. Bind off.

Sew shoulder seams.

RIGHT FRONT BAND AND COLLAR: Starting at turn of hem, with Size 10 needles pick up and K 116(120-124-128) sts on front edge to center back of neck. Work short rows for collar as follows: Work in K 1, P 1 ribbing for 20(22-24-26) sts, sl a marker on needle, turn. Sl 1, work in ribbing to end of row. Work 6 sts more beyond marker and sl first st of next row 4 times, ending at back of neck. Work across all sts in ribbing for 15 rows. Bind off in ribbing.

LEFT FRONT BAND AND COLLAR: Starting at center back of neck pick up and K 116(120-124-128) sts on front edge to turn of hem. Work in K 1, P 1 ribbing as on right front for 1 row, then work short rows to correspond to right front. When short rows have been completed, work in ribbing across all sts for 7 rows. On next row work 5 buttonholes as follows: Work 4(4-5-5) sts, bind off next 2 sts, * work next 14 sts, bind off next 2 sts, repeat from * 3 times more, work to end of row. Next row cast on 2 sts over each set of bound-off sts. Work 6 more rows. Bind off in ribbing.

POCKET BORDERS: Sl sts of pocket from st holder onto Size 6 needles and work in K 1, P 1 ribbing for 5 rows. Bind off in ribbing.

Sew sleeves in place, then sew underarm and sleeve seams. Turn under hems and sew on wrong side. Sew pocket linings in place on wrong side. Sew ends of ribbing at top of pocket to fronts. Seam collar at center back. If desired work 1 row of sl st around fronts.
